When it comes to fighting off wrinkles, it can feel like a struggle that one day you will eventually lose. The good news is that you can look younger – even if your birth date suggests otherwise!

No matter what your age, skin can retain its youthful look and vitality for longer when a program of natural skincare products are used.

It might therefore come as a surprise to learn that you don’t need fancy anti-aging brand names in your bathroom cabinet. Yes, you can prevent wrinkles with two natural ingredients.

As I remember back to just one year ago, I thought that wrinkles were best prevented with expensive skincare brands. I had no idea of the many amazing properties contained in essential oils…

I just assumed they were for use in massage and spa treatments. Little did I know that these amazing oils are one of nature’s best-kept anti-aging secrets…

Before I reveal what these two amazing essential oils can do for the skin, I want to state that they are best used as part of a dedicated anti-aging regime. Focusing on a healthy diet and exercise program is highly recommended alongside topical use of these essential oils for best results.

One of the main reasons why essential oils are so powerful is that these oils transmit messages directly into the limbic system of the brain, known to influence the nervous system. This means they can have an impact on every cell in the body.

Frankincense Oil

Frankincense is a centuries old essential oil that is commonly used for therapeutic and healing purposes.

In Christian religions, frankincense oil is symbolised as being one of the first sacred gifts that Jesus received from the wise men.

Sourced from the resin of Boswellia carterii or Boswellia sacara tree commonly found in Somalia, Frankincense is commonly used in aromatherapy for its various health benefits.

Frankincense oil can reduce pain and inflammation, relieve chronic stress, anxiety and boost immunity – even potentially help to fight cancer.

Yet one of its most powerful anti-aging benefits for reducing wrinkles is that frankincense oil can tighten and firm sagging skin. Due to its strong anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties, this will greatly benefit skin when applied topically.

Frankincense also contains astringent properties meaning it’s excellent for protecting skin cells, reducing acne blemishes and large pores. It can also prevent wrinkles by lifting and tightening skin that starts to sag due to aging.

As frankincense is a natural oil, it’s ideal for using on delicate facial skin such as under the eyes, along the jowls or for softening fine lines.

Using frankincense oil as part of your daily skincare routine is also recommended to stimulate collagen production and delay the onset of under eye wrinkles.

Carrot Seed Oil

Carrot seed oil contains powerful antioxidant, antiseptic and detoxifying properties that can benefit skin health.

Extracted from wild carrot seeds and containing a rich earthy fragrance, this pale orange essential oil is amazing for providing skin with various anti-aging benefits.

Wild carrot is commonly found in Europe and its scientific name is Daucus Carota. It’s commonly used in aromatherapy due to its anxiety and stress relieving benefits.

Rich in Carotene and Vitamin A, these are beneficial antioxidants that can keep your skin looking young and fresh.

Along with removing toxins from the body, carrot seed oil is a tonic and a cytophylactic, meaning ti can stimulate the growth of new skin cells and tissues – essential for anti-aging.

Carrot seed oil is rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and carotenoids that can nourish and protect the skin from the aging effects of sun damage.

Its antioxidant properties can also defend skin from free radicals while improving the tone and appearance of aging skin, promoting cell regeneration from deep within.

Simple Essential Oil Anti-Aging Serum Recipe:

Combining the two essential oils of Frankincense and Carrot Seed can create a powerful anti-aging serum to fight wrinkles, tone skin and protect the delicate under eye area. Follow this simple recipe for best results…

  • 5-7 drops of carrot seed essential oil
  • 3-5 drops of frankincense oil
  • Optional: 1-2 drops of geranium, lavender or rose oil
  • ½ cup of apricot kernel oil

Blend the essential oils and carrier oil together and store in a small glass dropper bottle. Use a small amount of this serum on skin before going to sleep each night to achieve a more youthful and radiant look the next day.

A Word of Warning…

It’s important to be careful when preparing this recipe. Essential oils are powerful and can cause skin irritation if not used correctly.

Mixing essential oils with a carrier oil such as apricot oil, avocado oil or coconut oil is recommended. Use high quality, 100% pure essential oils on the body and if pregnant or breast feeding, it’s a good idea to contact your health care practitioner first.

You only need to use a few drops of essential oil for it to be effective on the skin. If uncertain, it’s wise to conduct a small patch area test first to check for any allergic reactions.

Long Term Skincare Benefits of Essential Oils

While essential oils have many rejuvenating properties for skin, I have found that using them topically has given my face a newfound glow and radiance I haven’t seen in years.

Along with following an anti-aging regime focusing on healthy foods, I’m now enjoying a dewy complexion every morning when I look in the mirror.

The radiance that follows throughout the day is a quality that transcends beyond the physical; having improved every level of my self-confidence and wellbeing.
