Your face is a mask to the world. Maybe you spend hours of your life preserving your outer beauty; cleansing, toning and moisturizing on a daily basis to maintain youthful, radiant skin.
I remember when I was 20, I would look in the mirror and it took very little effort to look good. I never worried about sunscreen or anti-aging serums – the thought never crossed my mind.
Throughout this decade of my life, I was care-free with my skincare regime because I had youth on my side. Now I’ve reached my thirties the pressure to stay looking youthful and prevent the first signs of aging is starting to creep up on me.
Every day I look in the mirror and wonder what I can do to preserve a fresh facial appearance. I’ve developed an anti-aging skin routine that’s personalized to my own needs.
As I’m fascinated by natural methods, I’ve also started researching into how to prevent lines, creases and wrinkles from making their first impressions on my face.
The trouble is that many of the techniques can be tricky to get right – they involve needles, expensive acupuncture sessions or the use of someone else’s expertly trained hands.
What if I simply want to tone and tighten my facial muscles in a few easy moves to prevent them from sagging? I wondered.
What I found was even better.
I’ve discovered that practicing these simple facial exercises is one of the best ways to give your skin a smooth and more refined look. Even better is that these simple techniques can be practiced at home, by yourself and in front of a mirror.
These are the secret weapons you can use every morning and evening to give yourself an all-natural facelift. Want to learn more about these simple anti-aging secrets? Read on…
Yang Bai…For Deep Forehead Lines
This easy facial exercise works to stimulate and build up underlying muscle tissue in the face, softening any furrows in the forehead and creating a smooth brow.
Over time, you can develop deep wrinkles due to repeating certain facial expressions and certain lifestyle factors may expose you more to free radicals, accelerating the aging process.
This soothing face yoga exercise lifts the forehead muscles and may also be ideal for treating migraines, headaches and insomnia.
- Apply a firm pressure midway between the hairline and the top of the eyebrows, in line with the pupils.
- Use both forefingers to make small inward circles in this location for at least one minute.
- Repeat twice daily for best results. You may experience some warmth in the face and neck area from practicing this exercise.
Baby Bird…For Tightening Neck Skin
Various lifestyle factors can make the face look older than its years including natural aging, sun damage, smoking, weight loss and even working at a computer too long.
Yet it’s possible to lift sagging jowls by following this easy face yoga exercise. Known as the ‘Baby Bird’, it involves an open mouthed stretch that encourages the lower facial and neck muscles to become stronger and more toned.
- Tilt your head back and look up at the ceiling.
- Press the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth, then swallow while tilting your head to the left.
- Follow this by tilting your head to the right and swallowing. Repeat this exercise 4 times.
It’s also a good idea to practice head and neck rolls to relieve any pinched expression lines as this can tone the neck, throat and chin.
The Yawn…For Sagging Skin and Jowls
You can also erase drooping lines around the nose and mouth with this simple exercise.
- Open the mouth wide as if yawning.
- Slowly close the mouth and count to 20.
- Do not allow the upper and lower teeth to close.
- Repeat this exercise 3 times for best results.
Tongue Out…For Firm Cheeks and a Tight Jaw Line
- Sticking out your tongue, tilt your head backwards.
- Look at the ceiling. You will feel the stretch and pull of the back of the tongue, along the front of the neck and underneath the jaw and chin line.
- Hold this position for 5 seconds and then relax. Repeat this exercise 3-4 times.
Regular practice of these easy facial exercises can firm, tighten and tone your facial skin.
If you wish to keep your face looking young and radiant for longer then this move is ideal as it supports elasticity, keeping your skin supple, cheeks firm and your jawline more defined.
